KNIT KIT: FOR THE CHIC GRANDMA WITHIN YOU

So I'm not very crafty (at ALL), but my mom got me hooked on these homemade ornaments that I spent a lot of time over Christmas beading and embroidering. I found crafting very cathartic and found that I got really excited over a finished product that I could actually do something with. I had seen the knitting kits going around on the internet (Anthropologie sold hat/scarf/snood kits for beginners this December, which is where I got the idea), so last week I took the plunge and I ordered this kit on Amazon Prime.

So this is what's included in your kit. You get a cheap-y but easy enough to use thick round needle, a skein of yarn in the color of your choice (I did pink), an step by step instruction manual and a fur pom pom. It also comes with this little booklet for creating a tag for your hat, in case you wanted to brand your merchandise. Let's just say no one is going to want to purchase my hole-y hat, so I skipped that part.

What I loved about this kit (and no one pays me to say this, this is just me entertaining myself on Sunday afternoons) was that it says it's for beginners, and it actually was. I haven't knitted since I was 11, and couldn't remember a single thing about it. This kit walked me through the cast on process and how to use the round needles in a way that was so clear that I actually finished the project with a hat. An imperfect hat, albeit, but still a hat! The instructions even include links to videos in case you need more clear direction. For under $30, I was pretty impressed. I spent about two hours on this project, and here is the finished product:

By no means flawless (and there is a hole in the back that I am hiding from you), but I was pretty proud as a first time knitter! And I had a lot of fun making it. Anyways, if you're ever looking for something relaxing to do at the end of the day, I thought this was a lot of fun. I am going to order another kit from this seller and try my hand at something else!

Do you knit? Do you have a go-to craft activity that you enjoy? PLEASE let me know because I am desperate for anything fun that doesn't involve shopping for clothes haha!
